“Green Alison Johnstone, elected in Meadows/Morningside, has been a leading figure in campaigns such as the fight to stop the selling-off of Meggetland playing fields and recent protests over the plans to replace Meadowbank Stadium. She is also a former 800m and 1500m Scottish international runner” – Evening News, 8th May, 2007
"We want to see the Capital become one of the most environmentally friendly and socially just cities in the world. We have a whole manifesto of policies we want to see implemented." - Alison Johnstone, in the Evening News, 7th May 2007

“We did receive great support from Alison Johnstone, the local Green Councillor whom I think many Tollcross Traders Association members have already met, and then on Friday the Evening News got involved. It seems Saturday's front page story "License to Kill Cafe Culture" has stirred up some strong feelings - other restaurants and cafes are beginning to speak up, and rumour has it the Council may yet think again about its pricing policy.
